How does it work?
Invisalign® uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made aligners are produced. Each aligner moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved. The aligners are made of clear, strong medical grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn.
How does it compare to braces?
Generally, you visit the dentist no more often than you would with braces and the length of treatment is about the same. Because there are no metal wires and brackets, Invisalign is comfortable. And because it is removable, eating, brushing and flossing are no problem. You can still enjoy your favorite foods and smile without holding back.
Will it work for me?
Invisalign certified dentists can treat the vast majority of adults and adolescents. Below are some before and after pictures to demonstrate some of the problems that can be corrected using Invisalign aligners.
Is there specialized training for dentists offering Invisalign?
While Invisalign® can be used with virtually any treatment philosophy, specific training is needed. All orthodontists and dentists interested in treating patients with Invisalign® must attend a workshop before cases will be accepted from their office. Dr. Tony Gadbois was the first general dentist in the United States to successfully complete the Invisalign training.
